Getting a Great Deal for a Self Storage Unit

When I needed to store some of my belongings, I called around pricing out self storage units. I was surprised to learn just how many different offers self storage facilities run to attract new customers. However, while some of these deals are a bargain, others may not be so great if you plan on leaving your belongings in storage for an extended period of time. I created this website to discuss the different specials used by self storage facilities to attract customers and which of these specials may be beneficial to you, based on your particular needs. I hope this helps you get a great deal on a self storage unit.

Choosing Quick Connect Fittings for Pneumatic or Liquid Applications

Sergio Murphy

In an agricultural setting, you may face the need to use pneumatic tools to work on equipment and water hoses to move liquid from a source to where it will be used. When you have to frequently change out the pneumatic tools you have to use in a shop, you can waste a lot of time connecting and disconnecting your equipment. This is where a careful choice of connecter will help you to save time. The same connectors will likely not work for moving liquids, so you should go with connectors designed for liquid applications.

The Push-to-Connect Pneumatic Fitting

You have a few different types of pneumatic fittings to choose from, but if you are worried about losing valuable time when working on a project, you cannot beat the ease of use that you will find with a push-to-connect fitting. This fitting features a ridged and grooved male end. The ridges are sloped so that you can push the balls that hold the connecter in place out of the way as you push the male and female ends together. To release the connecter, you simply slide the collar on the female end back to release the male. This ease of use makes the push-to-connect fitting a good, time-saving choice.

The Cam-Lock Fitting

A cam-lock fitting features two levers on the female end and a groove in the male end. You simply push the two ends together, then fold the levers back against the body of the female end, to lock the male end in place. These levers provide a secure connection, which will hold up to a lot of pressure. To release the male end, you simply open the levers, and you are ready to go. If you are using a cam-lock fitting for water hoses in an agricultural setting, you should go with a stainless steel fitting because it will not corrode when exposed to the acids you typically find in fertilizers.

The time it takes to use pliers and or wrenches to screw two fittings together is time wasted. Threaded fittings provide a solid connection, but if you have to constantly connect and reconnect your fittings, you will rue the day you bought your threaded fittings. On the other hand, quick-connect fittings can be just as secure as threaded fittings, but are vastly easier to work with. The key to success with quick-connect fittings is to make sure you choose a fitting that will work well with the application it is intended for.
